SBB’s Ce 6/8 II, the electric locomotive depicted on the front cover, was at first mostly used for transporting freight on the Gotthard railway. Along with the Ce 6/8III, developed shortly after, it came to be known by the nickname ‘Crocodile’, both at home in Switzerland and abroad.
