Sustainability has always been at the heart of what Kazi Yetu does. It’s a social enterprise which sources the ingredients for its tea blends from different local companies and cooperatives, therefore contributing to securing the incomes of around 2,500 small farmers. Through regular direct contact with producers, Kazi Yetu guarantees fair working conditions. All producers also follow organic principles. However, because of the high costs of organic certification, only some of the producers have been certified with an internationally recognised organic label. With its own small tea manufacturing plant in Dar es Salaam, Kazi Yetu creates meaningful jobs for women. The workers are paid more than the minimum wage and they and their children receive health insurance. Eco-friendly packaging is also very important for Kazi Yetu.
